Halloween is just around the corner… have you planned your costume yet?
There is juuuuust enough time to order a costume and have it arrive before the Halloween parties, costume competitions, and teacher dress-up days that are swiftly approaching.
If you haven’t ordered your costume yet… or made plans to DIY your costume… don’t worry, I’ve got your back.
As the creator of the Plus-Size Database, I am uniquely aware of brands that are creating plus-size costumes in sizes 3X to 10X (US Equivalent Sizing).
The Plus-Size Database is a compiled database of more than 300 size-inclusive brands–you can learn more about it here. Using the database, I scoured the Internet to help you find a costume that you will feel incredible in.
In this post, I’ve included twelve size-inclusive costume brands for more than 70 costume ideas! Approximate prices are listed for each item; with prices ranging from $30-$260.
Pro-Tip: I only included a few costumes from each brand… and most of the brands have dozens of costumes available on their main websites. If you use this blog post and the Plus-Size Database as a launching pad, you will be connected to hundreds of plus-size costumes within minutes.
I add more brands to the database each week–so you’ll have more costume options than are listed in this post. Once you’re on the database page, you can filter to only see the brands that have size-inclusive costumes by following these steps: on the right-hand side of the screen, you will click on the icon that has three stacked lines. Then, you will choose “Clothing Type” and click “Costumes.”
easy as pie.
The brands in this post are not listed in any particular order. I tried organizing brands in various ways… by type, size range, price, alphabetically, etc… but I decided that this random mix works best for my brain.

Can I just tell you how much I love what I do?! In the process of researching plus-size costumes, I came across a new-to-me brand that I immediately added to the Plus-Size Database… Mochipan.
Mochipan is the epitome of kawaii dopamine dressing! The brand aesthetic positively oozes Fairycore, Cottagecore, Goblincore, Meadowcore, and whimsical RenFaire vibes.
I mean, just look at these dresses and the pre-order designs below! I am officially and forever obsessed with Mochipan—budgets be damned.
Designs are available in sizes 5X – XXS.
She-Hulk – $40
Curve Girl’s best feature is that every piece of clothing is customizable, for free. You input your measurements into the order form and voilà, a perfect fit delivered right to your door.
If you plan to order an item in stock on their website, each Curve Girl item is offered in sizes 9X – S.
I’m in love with Curve Girl’s interpretation of a plus-size mermaid costume–it makes me wish I didn’t already have a costume picked out for this year!
hmmm… maybe I’ll order it and save it for next year!
Mermaid – $60
Cowgirl Denim Jumpsuit – $56; available in sizes 6X – M
Okay… okay… so I’m kind of cheating because I’m recommending a couple of jumpsuits in this “Halloween Dresses” blog. But I think these non-dress pieces from BloomChic would make excellent costumes.
Pro Tip! Scroll through their entire collection, not only the Halloween line, to find everyday pieces that would work for various costumes. For example, the tweed jumpsuit below would be perfect for actual professors or someone wanting to dress up as one.

HalloweenCostumes.com has the most robust selection of plus-size costumes I’ve ever come across–and the costumes are pretty dang affordable.
While their selection does become more limited in extended sizes, they are always adding new designs to their size-inclusive costume line.
I highly recommend heading to HalloweenCostumes.com and filtering by size to see their full line-up in your size.
Miss Frizzle – $50; available in sizes 7X – 1X
Queen of Hearts – $100; available in sizes 6X – 1X
I’ve included one costume from each size 3X – 8X in this post… to give you an example of what you might find on their website.
HallowenCostumes.com has dozens of Disney-themed costumes. My favorites are the plus-size Disney princess costumes! This Princess Tiana costume is available up to size 5X, and the details are gorgeous. Three words: corset lace-up back… swoon.
I have my eye on Belle’s gown and Rapunzel’s dress for future Halloweens.
Princess Tiana – $200; available in sizes 5X – 1X
Carmen Sandiego $80; available in sizes 4X – 1X
I love how convenient HalloweenCostumes.com makes it to coordinate theme-based costumes with friends and family. There are costumes ranging from toddler sizing up to adult 9X, including kids’ adaptive costumes.
Most reviewers say the costumes run true to their listed measurements and that the costume quality is on par with what you typically find for readily available costumes.
Sweet Treat Ice Cream – $90; available in sizes 3X – 1X
Medieval Viking Overdress – $230; available in sizes 9X/10X
Shopping on Amazon is ultra-convenient, especially for anyone who needs a last-minute costume.
I put together a list of plus-size costumes with positive reviews on my Amazon Storefront.
Before recommending a product on Amazon, I always read through the reviews to make sure that plus-size customers shared that the costumes were “true to size” or “run large” — costumes that “run small” do not make this list.
I encourage you to read the reviews and product descriptions… and to search each brand’s main profile or website for more styles!!
Fiona Dress and Accessories – $130; available in sizes 8X – L
Evil Queen – $90; available in sizes 7X – 1X
Red Riding Hood – $65; available in sizes 6X – 1X
1920s Flapper Dress – $60; available in sizes 5X – XXL
Fairy Godmother – $65;
available in sizes 4X – S
Some of the brands available on Amazon also sell their costumes from their main website–for example, Fun Costumes on Amazon is actually the same brand listed in the previous section… HalloweenCostumes.com!
And some of the costumes in the Amazon Storefront are from Sanctuarie Designs, which is the next featured costume store in this post.
I included these brands in the storefront because sometimes it can be more convenient to order on Amazon, with Amazon Prime Members’ comprehensive shipping and return policies.
Twisted Clown – $45;
available in sizes 3X – 1X
Gothic Hooded Reversible Cape – $125; available up to size 9X
I love it when a brand has a truly inclusive size chart where the measurements are more likely to be larger than expected, rather than most brands which rely on plus-size sizing that is often inches smaller than needed.
Sanctuarie Designs is one of these awesome brands–this makes me excited to order something in the future. But I do have a couple of frustrations with the brand, let me tell ya.
First, Sanctuarie Designs charges up to $10 more for sizes 5X-10X. that sucks. Also, I find it a bit confusing that most of the product images on Sanctuarie Designs’ website do not feature plus-size bodies. That combined with the fact that their social media presence is next to nothing makes it hard to know how to gauge size and fit apart from blindly trusting the size chart.
Because of all this, I’m grateful that Sanctuarie Designs clothing is also available on Amazon–the customer reviews help me feel more confident.
Steampunk Vampire – $70; available in sizes 9X – L
Princess Leia – $50; available in sizes 9X – 1X
Daphne – $60; available in sizes 9X – L
Sexy Maid – $99; available in sizes 10X – 1X
I’m more than a little bit in love with JessaKae. If I wasn’t constantly exercising self-control over my budget, I would have a closet bursting at the seams full of JessaKae dresses.
All of JessaKae’s designs are manufactured in sizes 6X – XXS; and they do a marvelous job creating size-inclusive content that makes shopping online a surprisingly joyful experience, which is especially meaningful as a plus-size girlie.
So, whether you want to dance, dance, dance with your hands, hands, hands above your head, head, head like Wednesday Addams–or you plan to embrace your Ga-linda… I mean… Glinda the Good Witch vibes this Halloween (iykyk)… JessaKae has got you covered with an exquisite dress you will keep finding an excuse to wear for years to come.
Beetlejuice – $70; available in sizes 3X/4X – S
Fashion Nova’s tagline is “unapologetically sexy.” Scroll through @fashionnovacurve‘s posts on Instagram and you’ll see that they take that tagline seriously.
Fashion Nova embraces plunging necklines and faux leather to create costumes that Elle Woods would wear to win back Warner.
In addition to the costumes included in this section, you’ll find a plus-size Dominatrix costume, a sexy Siracha Bottle costume, and a plus-size Sailor Moon costume that are definitely worth checking out!
Megara Dress – $42; available in sizes 3X/4X – S
Woodland Fairy – $78; available in sizes 3X – XS
Silver Angel – $72; available in sizes 3X/4X – XS/S
Shego from Kim Possible – $48; available in sizes 3X/4X – XS/S
Viper Sorceress – $87; available in sizes 5X – S
Yandy is a lingerie company that creates form-fitting, sexy Halloween costumes.
Yandy has far more options in its straight-size line than its plus-size line, which is infuriatingly common in the fashion world. The plus-size outfits range up to 5X; and new plus-size options are added regularly. Check the provided measurements because the costumes are sure to run skin-tight!
Though it isn’t Halloween-centric like the other costume ideas in this post, I am in love with this glittering Día de los Muertos outfit for the Latinx plus-size community–I had to include it because it is absolutely gorgeous!
Dia de los Muertos – $93; available in sizes 5X – 1X
Goddess Isis – $74; available in sizes 3X/4X – S
Vampire Fatale – $85; available in sizes 5X – S
Princess Peach – $70; available in sizes 3X/4X – S
Captain America – $75; available in sizes 4X – XS
Her Universe is a Fangirl’s dream. If you’re looking for plus-size Comic-Con outfits that are cute enough to wear in your everyday life–Her Universe is for you.
Her Universe is partnered with dozens of fandom licenses–Dr. Who, Studio Ghibli, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Marvel, DC Universe, Hazbin Hotel, Star Trek, Disney, and more. Most designs are available up to 3X and some are available up to 5X.
Created by Ashley Eckstein (the voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels), Her Universe is the Queen of adding small, yet meaningful details to their pieces of clothing. Nearly every dress or sweater has an embroidered something that makes me smile. The Hobbit Dress is a perfect example.
PS: While it doesn’t fit the “dresses” category of this blog, I need y’all to check out this plus-size Captain Marvel jacket.

Are you looking for a plus-size costume that takes you back in time? Unique Vintage designs stunning clothing reminiscent of decades before–from the 1920s to Y2K.
Is there a decade you resonate with the most?
The best part about Unique Vintage is that their clothes are an easy addition to your regular wardrobe. I have two pieces from Unique Vintage in my closet and I literally always get compliments when I wear them.
In my experience, double-check the measurement chart for each item and pay particular attention to whether or not fabric/seams give any stretch.
Witch of the Night – $110; available in sizes 4X – XS
Celestial Goddess – $98; available in sizes 3X – XS
The Queen of Disco – $94; available in sizes 4X – XS
Sandy from Grease – $98; available in sizes 5X – XS
Maleficent – $80; available in sizes 4X – XL
I figured it was fitting to include XPlusWear last because it was the last brand I researched for this blog… and I’m really impressed!
A lot of brands sell similar costumes–sometimes even the exact same costumes–it’s fairly common and expected. XPlusWear really knocked my socks off with unique designs that I hadn’t seen anywhere else. Especially because I have literally looked at hundreds of plus-size costumes over the past week… to find new, bold designs is exciting.
Just look at the Mystique SkinSuit, featured below! The peekaboo fabric is perfection. 10/10. No notes.
XPlusWear also has a vintage-inspired Showgirl dress and a classic Red Devil jumpsuit that would be perfect for any Halloween party.
Cruella de Ville – $70; available in sizes 5X – L
Boxer – $65; available in sizes 5X – L
Mystique SkinSuit – $50; available in sizes 5X – L
IT Clown– $50; available in sizes 5X – L
whew! That’s a lot of costumes!
